The record
A late-'60s big band date cut for Verve, stacked with first-call New York players -- Zoot Sims and Phil Woods trading horn duties, Ron Carter and George Duvivier splitting bass chores, Joe Newman conducting from the trumpet chair. A one-off snapshot of the era's session elite gathered under the Jazz Interactions banner, more all-star convocation than working band.
