The record
Nine-eight, five-four, six-four -- odd meters throughout, yet the whole record swings loose enough that 'Take Five' became a genuine radio hit. Desmond's alto and Morello's drumming turn the math into something that just feels good.

Everything at the front of this list is 1959. In the US that means Columbia CL 1397 in mono, with 6-eye label and Hollywood or Terre Haute pressing variants listed separately, and CS 8192 in stereo. The Netherlands got it on Fontana the same year -- 682 065 TL mono, 885 115 TY stereo -- and the mono Fontana is the earliest row on file here. Reissue attention goes to CS 8192: Classic Records worked it repeatedly from 1995, and Analogue Productions cut APJ 8192 in 2015.
