The record

Vibraphone used as a front-line voice rather than a coloring device: Teddy Charles trades with Idrees Sulieman's trumpet and John Jenkins's alto while Mal Waldron keeps the harmony spare and slightly astringent underneath, Addison Farmer and Jerry Segal alongside. Charles produced it himself. New Jazz NJLP 8216, 1959 -- 'Staggers' and 'The Eagle Flies' have the teeth, 'Everything Happens To Me' the ballad.
