The record
A late-'50s big band date that finds Kenton looking back to the Balboa Beach ballroom days that launched his orchestra, reworked with the brass-and-woodwind heft of his Capitol-era book. Perkins, Kamuca, and Niehaus give the reed section real bite against Kenton's characteristically bold, orchestral piano voicings.
