The record
Newborn's crystalline touch and Chambers' steady walk give this trio room to breathe, even with the leader's name nowhere on the spine. Cut for New Jersey's New Jazz label in late '58, it favors brushes and taste over any hint of flash.

Pressings
The earliest we list is the 1959 US New Jazz mono, NJLP 8210, with a deep groove. Later copies on the same number step down in stages you can read off the label: 1961 with deep groove both sides and an RVG stamp, 1962 with the groove on side one only, and a 1965 repress with none. A 1960 UK Esquire, 32-103, is the period alternative. Original Jazz Classics OJC-196, from 1985, is the easy reissue.
