The record
A tight 1960 date pairing the Belgian guitarist with J.R. Monterose's tenor and a sharp American rhythm section of Hod O'Brien, Teddy Kotick, and Albert Heath -- hard bop with a lithe, single-note guitar attack that owes as much to Django's lineage as to Jim Hall's cool. Thomas's fluid, horn-like phrasing here shows why fellow guitarists rated him so highly.
