The record
Grimes and Haynes push Tyner into rougher, more open water than usual on this 1962 Impulse date, cut while the Coltrane quartet chair still occupied most of his calendar. The title track unwinds with a restlessness that points toward the harmonic territory he'd claim for himself later in the decade.

The earliest full pressing we list is the 1963 US Impulse! mono, A-33, a gatefold with an RVG stamp; a stereo A-33 gatefold sits alongside it in the same year, and a 1962 US test pressing is also on file. Britain had His Master's Voice CLP 1658 in mono. From 1967 the stereo runs as AS-33 through a long line of reissues; WaxTime 771844 is the 2013 option.
