Congas and timbales crowd the frame on this '68 date, with Lee Morgan and Fathead Newman blowing hard over churning Hammond and Melvin Sparks' guitar. The double percussion team gives it a street-funk pulse rare even within Blue Note's organ catalogue.

A 1970 US repress follows on that number. After that it is 1986 -- a UK BST-84290 and a US DMM remaster -- plus an undated Scorpio repress numbered BLP 4290, which is the one to leave on the shelf.
