Cut in the flush of crossover success, this quintet finds Morgan leaning into moodier, harmonically searching ground, Shorter's tenor pulling the frontline past pure groove. Mabern and Higgins swing easy behind him, trading hooks for depth.

The earliest copies on file here are all 1968 Blue Note: stereo BST 84212 and a mono BLP 4212 carrying the RVG stamp. Two further 1968 stereo copies are separated only by plant -- a Terre Haute press and a large-pressing-ring variant -- so one catalog number covers several distinct records, and the deadwax is what tells them apart. Reissues run 1973 through 1985, including the Japanese K18P-9234. Music Matters cut a 45 RPM MMBST 84212 in 2013.
