The record
Coming near the end of Blue Note's organ-combo era, this date finds Patton stretching past formula, with Ulmer's angular guitar foreshadowing the outside music he'd soon make with Ornette Coleman. Cabell's saxello adds an unexpected wrinkle to the grease.
Session personnel
- Leroy Williams — drums
- James Blood Ulmer — guitar
- John Patton — organ
- Marvin Cabell — tenor saxophone, flute, saxello
