The record

Tommy Potter and Clarence Johnston hold down swing basics while Forrest works the Basie/Ellington vein he came up in, cut for Prestige in the fall of 1961. Hugh Lawson's spare piano leaves room for that bluesy, jukebox-honed tenor sound to breathe.

Session personnel

  • Tommy Potter — bass
  • Clarence Johnston — drums
  • Hugh Lawson — piano
  • Jimmy Forrest — tenor saxophone
