The record
December of '56 finds Prestige splitting the rhythm chores between two full sections, Waldron and Chambers handing off to Garland and Phipps under McLean and Hardman's horns. The result feels unsettled but honest, a young band mid-search.

Pressings
The earliest pressing on file is the 1958 US mono 8212 with an RVG stamp, and note the label is New Jazz, not Prestige. A 1962 US repress of the same number shows a deep groove, with a further reissue in 1965; UK buyers saw Esquire 32-141 in 1961. Fantasy's OJC-098 from 1984 is the sane reissue, and Japan's 180-gram DIW-9009 from 1999 carries an RVG stamp and a laminated sleeve.
