A young Hubert Laws stakes his claim as a flute leader here, backed by a rhythm section that already reads like a who's who in waiting -- Chick Corea barely out of his teens, Richard Davis anchoring with his usual authority. Recorded early in Atlantic's mid-'60s jazz run, it's a lean, swinging debut statement from a player who'd soon cross freely between jazz and classical worlds.
