Clifford Brown's tender horn wraps around that famously breathy voice on this 1954 EmArcy session, his tone gentle rather than fiery. Oscar Pettiford's cello adds a dark, unusual color rarely heard on vocal dates of the era.

Pressings
The earliest LP on file here is the 1955 US EmArcy mono, MG 36006; the 1954 rows are 7-inch EPs, not the album. The number does not change through the US run, so the pressing detail is the way in: a 1957 Netherlands copy with a flat edge and a laminated sleeve, and 1957 and 1958 US repressings with a deep groove. Analogue Productions did it in mono on 200 gram as APJ 127, with a gatefold edition as AAPJ 127.
