The record
Flugelhorn and guitar cast long shadows here, Art Farmer and Jim Hall shading Brookmeyer's trombone into something closer to chamber music than club blowing. Restraint and arrangement carry the mood on this Mercury nocturne, quiet where his earlier bands ran hot.
