The record
A trim quartet-plus-congas date finds the baritone man leaning on Tommy Flanagan's crisp comping and Ben Tucker's walking lines for a set of originals named after himself. Light on its feet and unhurried, it's Mulligan easing into the early '60s with none of the cool-school austerity dulled.
