The record
A rare front-and-center date for the man who spent decades locked into Basie's rhythm section, this 1955 RCA session lets Green's understated pulse anchor a swinging small group of Basie-ites and fellow travelers. Cohn, Newman, and Coker fill out the horns while Hinton and the double-drummer lineup keep things loose and unhurried.
