The record
A late-'50s Bethlehem date that leans on Basie-band muscle -- Newman, Coker, Fowlkes and Pierce all lending big-band shorthand to a small-group blues session. Vinson's alto bite and shouting vocals carry the same jump-blues wit that made him a draw a decade earlier, here filtered through a tighter, swinging combo format.
Session personnel
- Charlie Fowlkes — baritone saxophone
- Eddie Jones — bass
- Nat Pierce — piano
- Henry Coker — trombone
- Joe Newman — trumpet
- Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson — vocals, alto saxophone
