The record
Milestone drew this from Byrd's mid-'50s dates, catching him fresh from the Jazz Messengers and already sketching sharp bop charts alongside Gigi Gryce's alto and Pepper Adams' baritone. Two rhythm sections rotate through, but a young trumpeter's voice holds the center.
