The record
A rare two-trumpet frontline outing from the short-lived Transition label, cut with a rhythm section already road-tested in the Jazz Messengers' orbit. Byrd and Joe Gordon trade brass lines over Silver and Blakey's hard-driving pulse, catching the trumpeter early, hungry, and in fast company.

Pressings
The earliest copy we list is the 1956 US Transition mono, trlp J-4, and it is the only original-era pressing on file. Everything after it is Japanese: Blue Note reissued the title in 1977 as LNJ-70104, stock and promo, and the Transition name returned for a 1979 limited edition, GXF-3123, and a 1989 mono reissue, TRLP-4. Any of those three is a realistic substitute.
