The record
Newly hungry back at Blue Note, Dexter traded big-toned phrases with a young Freddie Hubbard while Horace Parlan's bluesy comping kept things grounded. Tucker and Harewood lock in tight, opening his sharpest run of the decade.

Pressings
Two 1961 US pressings sit at the top here -- BLP 4077 in mono and BST 84077 -- and both carry the RVG stamp, 47 West 63rd address, Plastylite ear and laminated sleeve. A 1962 mono shows the West 63rd to New York label transition. Blue Note reissued it repeatedly through the 1985 DMM remasters. Music Matters' 45 RPM gatefold, MMBST 84077, from 2009, is the audiophile edition.
