A big-band showcase from early in Carter's career, her sly, behind-the-beat phrasing already fully formed against charts stocked with Gryce, Golson, Liston, and Dorham. Wynton Kelly's comping and a horn section full of forward-thinking arrangers give her plenty of sharp corners to swing around.
