The record
A rare leader date for the ever-tasteful Galbraith, cushioned by a woodwind-and-trombone choir arranged with real color -- flutes, clarinet, bass clarinet, and trombones weaving around his unhurried lines. Late-'50s Decca chamber-jazz, gentle and orchestral rather than blowing-session hot, with Costa's celesta adding a soft glow throughout.
