The record
Recorded in Paris during the same late-1958 sojourn that produced the classic Golson-Morgan-Timmons frontline's finest hard bop, this volume finds Blakey doubling up with Kenny Clarke and adding Gana M'Bow's bongos for extra heat. A rare glimpse of the Messengers loosened up abroad, percussion-heavy and full of Left Bank fire.
