The record
A tight quartet date finding the multi-reedman focused on alto, with Hugh Lawson's harmonically alert piano and the McBee-Brooks rhythm pairing giving these sides real elastic swing. Part of the late-60s Atlantic run that let Lateef stretch beyond his flute and tenor associations without losing that searching, blues-rooted core.
