A debut that announced a genuinely new vibraphone voice -- Dickerson's lines float free of Milt Jackson's bluesy swing, favoring cool, spacious lines closer to Bill Evans than to bebop. Cyrille's early presence on drums hints at the open rhythmic thinking he'd later bring to the avant-garde.
