The record
A late-'50s RCA date that finds Puente's orchestra stretching past the ballroom mambo, with Jimmy Cobb and a stacked guitar section giving the percussion battery a cooler, more jazz-inflected pulse. Mongo Santamaria and Julio Collazo anchor the low end while the reed section works in tight, after-hours voicings.
