The record
Cut as the bossa nova craze swept north from Rio, this sextet date finds Winter's young group folding Brazilian rhythm into hard-bop frameworks with easy, unforced swing. A lesser-known entry in the early-60s bossa boom, notable for Bernhardt's crisp comping and the leader's alto phrasing already showing the lyricism he'd carry into later ensembles.
