The record
A tight, blowing-session date from the Cobblestone stable, pairing Mobley's ever-lyrical tenor with Walton's crisp comping and the reliable Jones-Higgins engine room. Charles Davis's baritone and soprano thicken the front line, giving this early-'70s hard bop outing a fuller, more muscular voice than either leader's better-known Blue Note work.
Session personnel
- Charles Davis — baritone saxophone, soprano saxophone
- Sam Jones — bass
- Billy Higgins — drums
- Cedar Walton — piano
- Hank Mobley — tenor saxophone
