The record
Monk Montgomery's electric bass is the surprise here, credited alongside Percy Heath's bass on a 1956 Prestige compilation. Gigi Gryce and Quincy Jones wrote the arrangements, Jones also taking a piano credit next to Horace Silver, with Charlie Rouse and Clifford Solomon on tenors and Jimmy Cleveland's trombone in the middle. Eight titles, including 'Mau Mau' and 'Work Of Art.' PRLP 7031.
