Reunites the tenor man with fellow Central Avenue veteran Howard McGhee, their frontline chemistry unchanged since the bebop trenches of the 1940s. Phineas Newborn's dazzling technique and the airtight Brown-Thigpen rhythm section give this West Coast date real muscle and swing.
