The record
A late-'69 Roman date from Lacy's wilderness years, when he'd left New York for Europe's freer air and unusual instrumentation -- cello and clarinet threading through the horns, trombone and drums keeping things loose. Affinity's reissue captures Lacy mid-transition, testing Monk's angularity against fully improvised terrain.
