The record

A trio session cut for the Italian Vik label during Lacy's mid-'60s European sojourn, with Kent Carter's woody bass and Aldo Romano's brushwork giving the soprano plenty of open space to probe Monk-inflected lines. Lean, exploratory postbop that shows Lacy pushing toward the freer language he'd fully embrace in the years ahead.
