The record
A Chicago soul-jazz date thick with horns, cut for Cadet with a young Maurice White -- years before Earth, Wind & Fire -- laying down the groove behind Sonny Cox's alto. Organ, twin guitars, and a stacked brass section give it that mid-60s South Side heft, greasy and unhurried.
