The record
Recorded in '64 with then-husband Turrentine on tenor, this quartet leans hard on smoke and church, his horn twisting through her Hammond's slow-building swells. Cranshaw and Finch stay out of the way, content to let the two principals talk.
Session personnel
- Bob Cranshaw — bass
- Otis Finch — drums
- Shirley Scott — organ
- Stanley Turrentine — tenor saxophone
