The record
A little-documented 1960 date built on serious rhythm section credentials -- Sam Jones and Louis Hayes were fresh from the Cannonball Adderley band, giving this obscure trio session real bottom and swing. Wardell's own recorded output is scarce, making this a rare chance to hear his touch framed by two of hard bop's most in-demand sidemen.
