The record
A crisp early-'60s Decca date from a piano-led combo working the same soul-jazz territory that Ramsey Lewis and Gene Harris were mining -- bright, groove-forward playing built for a room full of clinking glasses. Personnel undocumented, but the trio-plus format keeps things lean, letting rhythm and repartee carry the set.
