The record
Two West Coast outsiders, flutist Lasha and altoist Sonny Simmons, chase folk-tinged themes and free-leaning blowing through Contemporary's clean early-60s sound, with young Gary Peacock's bass already restless under the horns. A one-off pairing that captures the era's push past hard bop without abandoning its blues roots.
