The record
Vibraphone pioneer turned bandleader here fuses conga-tinged funk grooves with pentatonic Ethiopian modes, a key document of the Amha-era sound that later reached wider ears through soundtrack use. Horns and organ trade brooding, minor-key lines over a tight rhythm section, capturing Addis Ababa's golden-age nightclub circuit at its most exploratory.
