The record
A late-'60s bossa move toward brighter, more pop-tinged arrangements as the genre found its footing on American shelves via Verve -- glossy strings and breezy Rio melodies aimed square at Stateside ears. Cut in the fall of '67 for release the following year, it captures the sound's transition from smoky intimacy to sunlit orchestration.
