The record
Clarke's drums are the constant across a 1969 Prestige compilation gathering sides headed 1948 and 1950 -- Howard McGhee and Benny Bailey on trumpets, James Moody and Jesse Powell on tenors, Jimmy Heath and Hubert Fol on altos, Cecil Payne's baritone, John Lewis and Ralph Schécroun trading the piano chair. Mark Gardner wrote the notes; Don Schlitten produced the reissue.
