The record
Burrell's guitar sits deep in the pocket here, all blues-drenched restraint and after-hours warmth, with Turrentine's tenor curling around the melodies like smoke. Barretto's congas add a subtle Latin tinge that keeps this one of Blue Note's most quietly soulful dates.

1963 Blue Note is the whole story at the front: mono BLP 4123 and stereo BST 84123, both stamped RVG. The deep groove comes and goes across our rows -- full, one side only, or none at all, with Plastylite ears on some mono copies -- so inspect the label rather than trust a listing. 1966 and 1967 repressings reuse the numbers. Modern cuts: Analogue Productions did AP-84123 at 45 RPM in 2008 and 2013, Music Matters MMBST-84123 in 2014, and Blue Note's Kevin Gray remaster as 3579908 in 2021.
