The record
A trio session stripped of horns, the guitar staying clean and blues-rooted against crisp, unhurried time-keeping. Smith ranges from slow-burn ballads to walking basslines, Verve's mid-'60s sound at its most relaxed.

The earliest pressing we list is the 1965 US Verve mono, V-8628, a gatefold with a deep groove and an RVG stamp; the stereo V6-8628 of the same year shows the same three, one copy noted as an MGM pressing. Britain had VLP 9108 in mono and SVLP 9108 in stereo, Japan SMV-1044. Verve's own remastered stereo gatefold of V6-8628 lands in 2026.
