The record
Ornette Coleman is credited on trumpet, which is the first thing to know, set opposite Jackie McLean's alto. Only three pieces fill the record -- 'Lifeline', 'Old Gospel' and 'Strange As It Seems' -- with LaMont Johnson at the piano, Scotty Holt on bass and Billy Higgins on drums. Blue Note issued it as BLP 4262 in 1967; Alfred Lion produced, Nat Hentoff wrote the notes.
