The record

A tenor and alto man out of the Herman and Getz orbit, Socolow leads a tight sextet through Bethlehem's mid-'50s East Coast hard-bop lane, with Eddie Costa's piano and Eddie Bert's trombone giving the frontline real heft. A lesser-known date worth digging for, cut when the label was stacking its catalog with sharp, unfussy blowing sessions.
