The record
A mid-'60s Nordic date led from behind the kit, with Heikki Sarmanto's piano work already hinting at the harmonic reach he'd bring to Finnish jazz for decades. Dannholm's reeds and Donner's trumpet trade the frontline over a double rhythm section, a tight, unshowy session cut over four days in November 1965.
