The record
Culled from Mingus's chaotic Town Hall date, this document catches him mid-experiment, expanding "Epitaph"-era material with an orchestra he never fully tamed. Rougher and stranger than the studio albums, it's a glimpse of ambition outrunning rehearsal time -- fascinating for what it dares more than what it resolves.

Pressings
The earliest on file is a 1962 US stereo on United Artists Jazz, UAJS 15024, with the mono UAJ 14024 alongside it and a gatefold stereo under the same number. Solid State took it over in 1968 as SS 18024, Fantasy in 1971 as JWS 9, and Original Jazz Classics reissued it as OJC-042 in 1983. The United Artists copies are the ones worth hunting; everything after is easy to find.
