The record
Cut on the sextet's tour through Japan, this set has Lateef ranging across oboe and reeds while Zawinul stretches the group's grooves into looser, more textured territory. The room sounds fully won over.

Pressings
The earliest copy on file here is the 1963 US Riverside mono, RM 477, with the stereo RS 9477 issued alongside it that same year -- either beats what follows. The 1964 UK pressing, RLP477, carries a laminated sleeve, and Japan got its own 1964 issues, mono R-5040 and stereo SR-7086. Riverside repressed RS 9477 in 1966. Original Jazz Classics reissued the title as OJC-435 in 1990.
