RCA's short-lived "X" budget label caught this quartet on July 30, 1954, Jackson's supper-club piano set against Peter Appleyard's shimmering vibes and a light, unhurried rhythm section. Little-documented but worth the search for pre-hard-bop cocktail jazz done right.
