The record
Recorded not long after "Moanin'" and "This Here" put his name on every hard bop marquee, this quartet session finds Blue Mitchell's trumpet weaving through Timmons' churchy, funk-driven chords. Jones and Blakey push the tempo without ever losing the sanctified feel.

Pressings
The earliest rows we list are both from 1960: a UK Riverside mono, RLP 334, and a US stereo, RLP 9334. Both numbers get reused -- a 1962 US reissue is again RLP 334, and a 1964 turquoise-label stereo is again RLP 9334 -- so the number will not date a copy and the label design is what you read. Japan's 1995 VIJJ 30020 is the modern option.
